Burn Permits Required April 1 – October 31
The Union Bay / Fanny Bay Fire Rescue would like to remind all residents that burn permits are required for any open burning within the service area from April 1 through October 31 each year.
This seasonal requirement is in place to reduce wildfire risk and protect our community during the warmer, drier months.
Before lighting any fire, you must:
- Obtain a valid burn permit from the department
- Comply with all conditions outlined on your permit
- Check current weather, wind, and fire danger ratings, including the venting index

- Have adequate water supply and tools readily available to fully extinguish the fire
Please note that burning may be restricted or prohibited at any time due to changing conditions or fire bans. It is your responsibility to stay informed before burning.
